Don't worry, faithful readers, I have not abandoned this blog. It's the same old excuses we all use, but I've been very busy, and very tired. I never sleep anymore (but that's a whole 'nother post).

So let's get to it.

OLD BUSINESS

- I know I still owe you a post about our trip to Texas earlier this month... it's coming... eventually. :)

- status is still the same on school; classes begin in September. Nothing else here to report.

- the countdown to my last day of work is: 19 days

NEW BUSINESS

- There is really only one thing: Theseus is now in Kuwait. He and his unit are currently in what the Army calls a "right seat-left seat" ride. This is how the two units (outgoing and incoming) will transition. In the "right seat" phase, Theseus's unit will shadow the outgoing unit, to learn their jobs and get comfortable with the mission expectations. In the "left seat" (driver's seat) phase, Theseus's unit will begin operating everything while the outgoing unit observes, offering mentorship and guidance.

Then there might be a little ceremony to mark the RIP/TOA's completion (depending on travel arrangements, time, etc). RIP/TOA is a Relief in Place (the outgoing unit is being relieved while still deployed, or "in place")/Transfer of Authority (all mission requirements/equipment/expectations will transfer from the outgoing unit to Theseus's unit). By that time, all those people will be tripping over each other, the outgoing will unit will want to go home, Theseus's unit will want to take over... It can be an exhausting process.

I'll keep you all updated (with respect to OPSEC - Operational Security) as much as I can.

If anyone wants Theseus's mailing address (it's different from the one his unit handed out at his going away ceremony), give me a call or email me at (my first name).(my last name)@gmail.com.

Well, I hope you enjoyed that (unintentional) lesson in Army life. I promise I'll be better about posting here... in fact, I'm going to try really hard to post (at least something) every day until the end of the month. Can I do it? Keep checking back to find out! ;)
