Recently I found a small stack of letters Theseus wrote to me when he was in basic training. Reading through them made me happy - Theseus can be very sweet and sensitive when he wants to be. ;)

But we haven't sent each other any letters since he's been deployed; traditional paper letters can take over a week to make it across the Atlantic. We are able to talk on the phone every day, and most days we also exchange messages on Facebook. As our time on the phone is limited, we use these messages to hold longer discussions, exchange passwords and other important information, communicate sudden ideas or thoughts that normally could be sent via text message or quick phone call. The messages have become an essential means of interaction; each morning, the very first thing I do is check for anything he sent while I was sleeping.

Plus: it's only a 1-day drill, I don't have to go in until 9 a.m., we're having our holiday party (and I have a guest: T!), I don't have to participate in the Class A inspection, oh and I'm getting promoted finallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Minus: it's still drill

This will be short because it's nearly 10 p.m. and I still have a lot to do before I can go to bed. And as usual, it's my own fault for trying to juggle too many things and procrastinating a great deal in between. I can really only do one or the other: lots of things or procrastinate. Not both. But I always do. And so here I am. :(

The wonderful woman from the rescue group I've been corresponding with sent me a short email on Monday:

Hi [Antiope]!

Looks like we will be able to take Mushroom into Petsmart this week.  Is Wednesday night good for you?

Yes! Yes!!!

J came to visit yesterday!

Next week is finals week.

Then back to MA for Christmas.

Then [insert something fun but so far undertermined] for the New Year.

My mini-course goes from Jan 4-14.

My other 4 classes start on the 21st.

The next 46 days are going to be intense. I apologize ahead of time if I'm neglectful in my blogging. :(

I didn't have school or any pressing errands today, so I got to sleep in as long as I wanted! (happy face)

But I woke up at 7:30. (sad face)

Somewhere out there is my little farm - a house and a barn, some chickens and a couple of goats. There's a lake (or just a stream), rows of vegetable plants, homemade apple cider and fresh berries. My husband. I don't need anything else.

And I can forget about the craziness in the rest of the world.

:(
